Whilst KD's move to the Warriors did make the league uncompetitive, at the end it was his choice and the spike in salary cap that off-season made it possible for the Warriors to add him without giving up much. To those that say the Warriors shouldn't have gone to the Hamptons to beg KD to join them, what was their alternative? Harrison Barnes was going to be an RFA, and he would have wanted max dollars or somewhere close to that. From a business perspective, why on earth would you pay Barnes 25m when for a bit more you can get KD? At the end of the day, Kerr and Myers (Warriors GM) have a duty to construct and put out the best team possible. On the flip side, AD and PG requested for trades to specific teams when they were under contract, and basically put their teams under pressure or else risk keeping an unhappy player who clearly doesn't want to be there. Unlike people, athletes are products of entertainment (and are paid as such), so sad to say they don't get the luxury of choosing where they want to live or play at least for the first couple of years. Boo hoo, deal with it.... |
